The Mission

The Church & Society Mission Team is organized to identify and report to Presbyterians on critical ethical issues before Missourians — particularly those issues that are related to our Christian faith and state government including:

  • Children
  • The dependent
  • Poverty
  • Pornography

The Mission Team will use emails, bulletins, and presentations to alert Presbyterians to critical social issues. If these issues are being debated in the state legislature, the Mission Team will provide timely information that recipients may use to develop input that may, in turn, help guide state policy and legislation. Upon request, the Mission Team will present seminars on Church and Society issues.

The Mission Team has contracted with Ray Schneider, former Economist for the Missouri Senate to monitor, interpret, and report on topics identified by the Mission Team.

The Mission Team will seek to witness to the love and justice of Jesus Christ and the promotion of social righteousness. These efforts will offer opportunities to think theologically and to consider societal issues in the light of Biblical truth. The Mission Team hopes that these activities will help equip participants to be more vital servants of our Lord.

For 2008, the Mission Team surveyed pastors, sessions, and boards of deacons throughout the Presbytery and based on the responses will focus on the following issues confronting Church and Society:
