Living in Jefferson City

Jefferson City is truly exceptional in many ways with quality of life ubiquitous throughout the community, the nucleus of what Jeffersonians know to be, simply stated, “a great place to live and raise a family.” 

Missouri’s Capital City is nestled in the foothills of the Ozarks, in the center of the state about an equal distance between the state’s two largest cities, St. Louis and Kansas City. From education, the arts, health care to religion and recreation, Jefferson City has nearly everything residents need to be active, healthy and productive. 

Jefferson City is blessed to have a public school system that is regarded by most educators as one of the finest in the state.  The community also has a number of faith-based and private schools which offer outstanding educational options.  First Presbyterian Church is proud of the leadership role it plays in providing various educational opportunities for the community. 

One of our little-known attributes is a surprisingly reasonable standard of living.  Housing is a bargain here!  A casual reading of the newspaper shows a 1900 square foot, 3-bedroom, 2-bath brick home for $158,000 and 4500-square-foot, 5-bedroom, 4.5-bath custom brick home for $379,000.  You can afford to buy a lot of house in Jefferson City!

Our FPC congregation is very involved in all aspects of life in Jefferson City.  Throughout the last 175 years we have provided leaders to play vital roles in making our church and this community what it is today.  With God’s help we are searching for a   new leader to help us continue that pathway into the future.
