Local Outreach Mission

Mission is key to who we are at FPC and the One we serve. Active local mission endeavors include FOCUS, K-Plus (an enrichment program for at-risk kindergartners), our food and coat closets and our work with other groups in the community like Samaritan Center, Habitat for Humanity and Agape House.

Agape House

The Agape House exists to provide comfortable, safe and sanitary lodging in a Christian environment for family members and friends of people who are in Missouri's correctional facilities.

Habitat for HumanityHabitat for Humanity workers from First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson CIty, Mo.

Habitat is a nonprofit Christian ministry working in partnership with low income families to improve their living conditions with decent, affordable housing. Habitat does more than build houses. It also helps families to develop money management and homeowner skills to help them be successful in their homes, families and communities.

See 1/20/2008 News Tribune article about the completion of the Presbyterian-sponsored house.

Meals-On-Wheels

The Presbyterian Church has participated in Meals-On-Wheels since 1973. We delivers meals to six homebound individuals on the east side of town on the second Friday of each month.

Mentoring Program for School Children

For a number of years, our congregation has been involved with the mission of supporting students at South Elementary School through the Mentoring program. This need is so important and continues to grow, with an increase in the number of students needing a Mentor each year. The students need a friend to support and encourage them, meeting with them for one hour a week.

On September 3, 2006, the News Tribune profiled a member of the congregation involved in this program.

Salvation Army

Church members provide, prepare and serve meals at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen four nights a month. This ministry reaches approximately 60-70 people per week.

Samaritan Center

More than 2,500 children and adults depend on the Samaritan Center each month for food and clothes. Other services include medical and dental care, legal advice and mediation, and life-skill education. The interfaith agency serves six Central Missouri counties.
