Our Congregation
Our congregation is a family of friends who share the common
experience of knowing the love of God and who respond to that
love in worship and in committed services to our Lord. Our
community began almost 175 years ago on June 15, 1834. Scottish
missionary Pastor Robert McAffee gathered twelve people in
the very new town of Jefferson City. Meeting in the rotunda
of the State Capitol, the group formed this congregation. Following
the Civil War the church was located at its present site. The
current worship building was built in 1927 and the Parish Hall
was added in 1994.

Presbyterianism
The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has approximately 2.4 million
members, 11,100 congregations and 14,000 ordained and active
ministers. Presbyterians trace their history to the 16th century
and the Protestant Reformation. Our heritage, and much of what
we believe, began with the French lawyer John Calvin (1509-1564),
whose writings crystallized much of the Reformed thinking that
came before him.
